Nurture Nest Play Therapy & Counseling Center

Providing Play Therapy, counseling, trauma-informed care, and mental health services for children, teens, adults, and families throughout Central Kentucky.

Who We Are:

“Have you ever had a dream that is so vivid that it feels real? In June of 2019 I experienced this amazing vision that I know was manifested from the longings of my heart.

For many years I have dreamt of a place where individuals can grow and heal in a warm and safe environment. The image in my mind was fun, playful, and nurturing. That dream is now a reality and I am excited to introduce Nurture Nest. This safe haven has been designed with clients of all ages in mind and will help them find sunshine even during the darkest of times. This place will become a refuge from fear, worries, and sadness. Children, adolescents, teens, and adults will feel accepted, understood, and protected by our team. In this space, children can be children and play will be the method that they heal. Adolescents and teens will learn positive ways of self expression and will feel nurtured. Adults will feel embraced and free to explore and even play as a method of treatment. We invite you to come and meet our team and encounter Play Therapy for yourself. Let us help you experience how fun and healing therapy can be! Here at Nurture Nest you will not only learn to spread your wings, you will soar. “ - Rebecca Patterson, Founder & Owner

Our Mission

A safe haven where growth, change, and healing takes flight.

Our Approach to Treatment:

At Nurture Nest Play Therapy & Counseling Center, we believe every client deserves individualized, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate care. Our approach to treatment is highly client-centered, meaning we work collaboratively with clients and families to ensure therapy services are tailored to each person’s unique emotional, behavioral, and therapeutic needs. We strongly believe in matching each client with the therapist who is best suited, trained, and experienced to help them achieve their treatment goals and build meaningful progress throughout their healing journey.

We understand the importance of communication, collaboration, and transparency in the therapeutic process. To help families remain informed and actively involved in care, our clinicians meet with clients and/or caregivers on a bi-monthly basis to review treatment goals, discuss progress, celebrate growth, and ensure services continue to meet each client’s evolving needs.

At Nurture Nest, trauma-informed care is at the foundation of everything we do. Every member of our team — from our most experienced therapists to our front office support staff — has received training in trauma-informed care and understands the importance of creating an environment where clients feel emotionally safe, respected, supported, and understood from the moment they walk through our doors.

Specialized Play Therapy Leadership

Nurture Nest is led by Rebecca Patterson, MA, LPCC-S, RPT-S, a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and current President of the Kentucky Association for Play Therapy.

Rebecca has dedicated her career to supporting children, teens, and families through evidence-based and developmentally appropriate mental health services. Through her leadership, Nurture Nest prioritizes high-quality Play Therapy services, ongoing clinician training, ethical care, and best practice interventions for the children and families we serve.

Our therapists utilizing Play Therapy interventions receive ongoing support, consultation, and supervision in Play Therapy techniques, Child-Centered Play Therapy, trauma-informed care, emotional regulation interventions, and child development. This commitment helps ensure that children receive specialized care from clinicians who understand how to support healing through connection, creativity, and play.
