How do I know if my child needs therapy?
1
Every child experiences difficult emotions from time to time. Therapy may be beneficial if your child's emotions or behaviors are interfering with school, relationships, family life, or daily activities. Signs can include persistent anxiety, sadness, anger, behavioral changes, social withdrawal, difficulty coping with life changes, or challenges that don't improve with support at home. Seeking therapy doesn't mean something is "wrong" with your child—it simply provides additional tools and support to help them thrive.

What is Play Therapy?
2
Play Therapy is a developmentally appropriate form of counseling that allows children to express thoughts and feelings through play rather than relying solely on words. Because play is a child's natural language, trained Play Therapists use toys, art, games, and creative activities to help children process emotions, build coping skills, and work through challenges in a safe and supportive environment.

Some families benefit from short-term support lasting a few months, while others choose longer-term therapy to address more complex needs. During your initial sessions, your therapist will work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan and discuss what to expect.

How long does therapy usually last?
Finding the right therapist depends on several factors, including your child's age, presenting concerns, personality, and treatment goals. Our team includes therapists with specialized training in Play Therapy, trauma, ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism, parenting support, family therapy, and more. We'll help match you with the therapist who best fits your family's needs.
Yes. Parents and caregivers play an important role in a child's progress. While every treatment plan is different, therapists regularly communicate with parents, provide recommendations, discuss progress, and offer strategies that can be used at home while maintaining your child's therapeutic trust and confidentiality.
How do I request an appointment?
Yes. Nurture Nest works with many commercial insurance plans as well as Kentucky Medicaid Managed Care Organizations. Coverage varies depending on your individual plan. Our scheduling team is happy to verify your benefits and answer questions about insurance, self-pay options, and billing before your first appointment.
Your first appointment focuses on getting to know you or your child. Your therapist will gather information about current concerns, developmental history, strengths, goals, and family dynamics. Together, you'll discuss recommendations and create a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. Our goal is to help every family feel welcomed, supported, and comfortable from the very first visit.
